– The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday congratulated the
Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi
Okonjo-Iweala, for winning the Rockefeller Foundation’s Leadership
Award.
The Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, said the council congratulated the minister at its weekly meeting in Abuja.
“Council, led by Mr President, congratulated the CME (Coordinating Minister of the Economy) for the leadership award that she received from the Rockefeller Foundation.
“We believe that these continued laurels being won by Nigerians, including high level government officials, is a clear indication that this country has the talents that is required to transform and to place our country on a higher pedestal of economic growth and prosperity.
“The president and all of us congratulated her and urged her to see this opportunity to do even better work for this country.“
Maku stated that the award was an indication of global confidence in the management of the nation’s economy.
He said the last three years of her management of the economy had improved Nigeria’s economic standing, saying the economy had witnessed growth in all sectors.
He announced that South Korean investors would soon organise Economic Forum to attract additional investments into Nigeria.
The minister said the investors would be investing in the railway and aviation sub-sectors to boost the nation’s transportation system. (NAN)
